How to Join A.S.P.O.E.

Membership in the American Society of Petroleum Operations Engineers is open to any individual who posses a Baccalaureate or higher degree in Engineering from an EAC/ABET accredited institution with a minimum of five (5) years of documented experience in a responsible charge of work in Petroleum Operations Engineering.

The Baccalaureate or higher degree may be waved for individuals that have a minimum of ten (10) years experience as outlined above.

A.S.P.O.E. requires all prospective members to be sponsored by a current member in good standing. The person who referred you to A.S.P.O.E. will provide his/her name as your sponsor. In the event that you do not have a sponsor, one will be assigned to assist you during the application and exam process.

Upon receipt of the "Request for Membership Application" a formal potential membership packet will be mailed to you. You should complete all information requested and return the completed packet along with a check for $175.00 to cover the exam fee. The A.S.P.O.E. Membership Committee will review your application and statement of qualifications to confirm that you meet the minimum requirements to sit for the exam.

You will be notified as to the outcome of the findings of the Membership Committee. If it is determined that you do not meet the requirements to sit for the exam, your fee will be refunded to you in full. If you are found eligible to sit for the exam, you will be provided with an exam schedule at that time.
